RETREAT TO THE ‘TOP OF THE WORLD’
That’s
why it’s called Eagle’s Nest.
It’s up where eagles soar…
where elk roam freely…
where even mountain goats explore
the craggy rock outcroppings.
Location
– Eagle’s Nest seems worlds away – yet, perched
on a rock ridge on top of Conifer Mountain, it’s just 30
minutes from Denver where a million lights do their entertainment
dance every night. In fact, from its wrap-around decks you see
Pike’s Peak and Long’s Peak – 135 miles apart.
The East-West view stretches 100 miles from the Eastern plains
to the Continental Divide. Run the math. That’s 13,000 square
miles of breathtaking beauty.
Retreat
Center Extraordinaire – Eagle’s
Nest started out, and still is, a professional recording studio.
But since it was designed to accommodate sizeable recording teams,
it has become also a Retreat destination – for Pastoral
staffs, church boards, Sunday School classes, Creative Memories
Scrapbook gatherings and other interest-groups, family reunions,
wedding parties and even honeymoons.
Accommodations
and Amenities –
Instead of an impersonal hotel-type layout, its design is more
that of a Swiss chalet, divided into three suites of varying sizes
but flowing gracefully one into the next with a game
room at the center. ‘Game’ room takes on a double
meaning as elk and deer mounts look down on bumper pool and professional
billiards tables.
The
game room, in turn, overlooks the South deck, a sizeable enclosed
hot tub room
and the main living room below
which flows into the formal dining room and one of the two full-size
kitchens. A central bath with Jacuzzi is one of five bathrooms
serving the bedrooms. The lodge will accommodate 16 people in
queens, kings and two bunk sets. In addition, four full-sized
auto-inflatable 18” high aerobeds provide more sleeping
space when needed. Three large, moss-rock fireplaces accentuate
the grandeur surrounding “the Nest.”
Entertainment
– With rec room, TVs in almost every
room, plus a well-stocked game closet, there are plenty of ways
to keep you entertained. But if you hanker for more of that fresh,
mountain air, there’s great hiking and rock-climbing right
in our own ‘backyard.’ End your day with barbequing
on the decks, or shooting hoops out on the driveway. You might
even bring some ‘beater’ balls and a driver for the
one-hole golf course. 450 yard drives are routine off the cliff.
Eating
out for variety? Ten minutes away is the mountain village of Conifer
with convenient dining in a half dozen locations. Or travel 10
miles farther north to the quaint town of world-famous Evergreen.
Here you’ll find a wealth of restaurants from the modest
to fine dining. Try “Keys
on the Green” at the golf course overlooking Evergreen
Lake. (Be sure to ask for an outside table. Don’t be surprised
to find a herd of elk grazing not 10 yards from your table.)
Evergreen
Lake is host to summertime activities such as evening concerts,
sailing, canoeing, water wheeling, fishing and hiking as well
as winter fun with its nature-made outdoor skating rink. If you
enjoy antiques and classy shops, Evergreen is the place. From
there, you’re just 30 to 40 minutes to phenomenal skiing,
biking, trail riding and more golf.
